Phil, Judy,
David, and Jonathan |
Phil and Judy Nelson are the founders of International DOVE.
The Nelsons lived in Sierra Leone, West Africa for eight years before they were forced to evacuate because of the escalating civil war. In February, 1998, a peacekeeping force reinstated the former president. It was then that Phil decided to return to Sierra Leone, in order to assess the needs of the people he had grown to love. Phil returned to Canada knowing that he had to do something to help the people of Sierra Leone. It was out of this burden that International DOVE Association was born.
Phil and Judy are now active in Sierra Leone and Canada in the work of International DOVE. They are pictured here with their adopted children, David and Jonathan. |
