Sept 04

It has been a long time since our journal was updated. We apologize for our regular visitors for this. Hopefully future entries will be much more regular.

Since we last wrote, most of the Dove children have been moved in to our Children’s Home. The construction is not yet completed for the entire building but their living conditions were so poor and they were so anxious, that we decided to move them. That was in February! We still have another 15 children to move in from the Kabala area once their rooms are ready.

Our biggest challenge so far in Dove’s history is their schooling. We do not have a school building yet and currently hold school in the dining room and unfinished lower level of the home, as well as in the playground when it isn’t raining. Our big need is for qualified ex patriot teachers, especially one who can act as principal and oversee the school. We have tried several different ideas over the past 6 months and this seems to be the only way to insure that the children receive the type of education that will help them acquire better futures for themselves.

One note on another topic. We now have a tiny 4 pound baby boy added to our home. One of our girls found she was pregnant, just before she moved in to the home. She has given birth and named her little boy Philip, in honour of our Executive Director. We will post pictures of him in our album shortly.
