Meet some of the children . . .
Seeds of hope have been planted - meet some of the children who have been helped by International DOVE:
 |
Baby Elisha (Krio for Alicia) was born on May 2, 2003. She was being raised by her grandmother, who couldn't afford to buy formula for her. At four weeks old she weighed less than 4lbs. That is when DOVE was asked to help.
If the father can be found, Elisha and her brother can be adopted out. Meanwhile, the grandmother continues to care for all the children (7 of them) with medical and financial aid coming from DOVE. This baby's life was saved. Shown in this picture is Elisha and DOVE staff member Toune. |

This picture was taken when Rugiatu was 10 years old. She was staying in her grandfather's house when the rebels came. Her father and mother were both burned to death inside when the rebels set the house on fire. Rugiatu did escape but was burned as well.
Rugiatu has now been able to attend school. Rugiatu enjoys singing and has been involved in music and art therapy. Staff are now encouraging her and giving direction as she grows older and will need a vocation after she's finished school. |

Mohamed's life was lived on the streets of Freetown until International DOVE took him in. We know very little about his background, but as far as we know both his parents were killed by the rebels. Mohamed likes to sing and play soccer. This picture was taken when he was 5. |
We have pictures and descriptions of some of our current children in our Photo Gallery.
